There are many species of dolphins found around the world. Marine Biologists have been trying for years to find out more about the dolphin's species. Even today there is very little known about them, even with our technology. Of the many dolphin species (31 to be exact), there are three distinct groups: the oceanic dolphins which can be found in the oceans around the world; the coastal dolphins, which can be found near the coastlines of many nations; and the river dolphins, which can be found in a few of the world's rivers. The Bottlenose dolphin is both oceanic and coastal . (which did surprised us) The Tucuxi dolphin (which also surprised us) is a river and coastal dolphin.
